Turkish tractor firm grows through exports

Having created Turkey’s first tractor brand and launched exports in March 2007, Erkunt is progressing with rapid steps with its international brand ArmaTrac.
Despite the global crisis, ArmaTrac has increased the number of countries where it exports to 20 within 2009 by including in its sales network countries such as Sudan, Morocco, Senegal, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, Mali, Gambia, Guinea and Yemen in Africa as well as Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Poland, Greece and Iraq. Additionally, Armatrac aims to increase its market recognition worldwide and its market share in the countries where it is present this year. Erkunt Tractor, which has determined its 2010 export target as 500 units, plans to raise its market share in European and African countries. The company will also begin efforts to enter the United States market this year.
Erkunt Tractor exports to 20 countries the tractors designed completely by Turkish engineers and produced totally with Turkish capital, said Zeynep Erkunt Armağan, director general of Erkunt Tractor Industry. “The great interest for our Armatrac brand, particularly in Balkan countries and Africa, has given us hope for our 2010 export targets. Additionally, after the 2009 Agritechnica Fair held in Germany in November 2009, the intense customer demand for the models that we have offered in European markets is an important indicator that we are able to provide customer satisfaction in terms of technical features of our products and servicing,” she said in a press statement released last week.
“We aim to add some new countries on the American continent to our sale and service network with the promotion of ArmaTracs to be showed in AG Connect, the first nationwide agricultural equipment fair in the United States, on Jan. 12 to 15,” Erkunt said.
Produced at facilities founded on the organized industrial zone of Ankara’s Sincan, Erkunt Tractors are Turkey’s first tractors produced by Turkish engineers without being subject to world brands’ licenses. Tractor production started in September 2004, and the firm serves to a structuring of 60 authorized dealers and 184 authorized services nationwide.
